Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He saved 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
