Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
